Synergetics and Self-organization in the Economy

The master thesis focuses at analysis and research of synergy and self-organization in economics. The motivation for the thesis was joining Czech Republic and other nine countries to the European Union on May 1st, 2004. The primary aim was to analyse the problem and on a model example,assuming "ceteris paribus", confirm or refute the thought, that joining the European Union has positive synergic effect for newcomers. The second meaning of synergy is solved as a sub-problem in the master thesis, where the use of synergy in logistics was analysed and opportunities improving the current situation were suggested.

Foreign Direct Investment - A Proposal Evaluation

Předmětem diplomové práce je vyhodnocení investičního návrhu do zahraničí. V teoretické části práce je důraz kladen na analýzy, jež pomáhají popsat okolí a průmysl v zemi investice. Je zde dána definice přímé zahraniční investice a práce se zmiňuje i o historii. Hlavní náplní teoretické části je příprava investice, způsoby vyhodnocení a stavba cash flow. Poslední kapitola se zabývá riskem, který vyplývá ze změn v kurzech měn. V teoretické části je provedena analýza PESTLE a Portrův model pěti sil. Jsou popsány přímé zahraniční investice v Německu a v neposlední řadě je vyhodnocena zamýšlená investice.

The Localization of Foreign Direct Investment in the region of Middle Europe

This master´s thesis “The Localization of Foreign Direct Investment in the region of Middle Europe“ is focused on localization of foreign direct investment in the region of Middle Europe and possiblities of making easier localization decision. The first part of the thesis summarizes teoretical knowledge of foreign direct investment, their difinitions, typology and effects on economy. The second part is focused on the analysis of localization factors of strategic services sector. On the analysis basis, in the final part is created the model, which can be used for easier localization decision making between economies of Middle Europe. Afterwards the localization of a foreign direct investment is projected and analysed.

Foreign direct investment in the Czech Republic

The subject of this bachelor thesis is a definition of regional development and foreign direct investments. The practical part deals with an analysis of foreign investments in individual regions of the Czech Republic and monitors years 2010-2020. It also examines the impact on regions and the development of living standards. As an example of foreign direct investment in the Czech Republic is used a company BOSCH DIESEL, s.r.o.. Thesis focuses on one specific investment and examines its impact on the development of the Vysočina Region, more precisely of Jihlava District.

Technological industrial development zones and their economic impact in North Macedonia

This thesis provides a thorough examination of the role and effectiveness of Technological Industrial Development Zones (TIDZs) in North Macedonia, with an emphasis on their macroeconomic effects since their creation. It investigates their impact on important economic variables such as FDI, trade openness, employment, and gross fixed capital formation. The study takes a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative analysis with qualitative insights gleaned from policy assessments and case studies. This study examines the broader socioeconomic and geographical ramifications of TIDZs in addition to their direct economic effects. It investigates the efficiency of government initiatives in developing these zones and incorporating them into national economic strategies. The findings offer a detailed knowledge of the role of TIDZs in economic transformation and development, as well as policy recommendations for maximising advantages and mitigating problems. This thesis adds to the larger discussion on the strategic use of special economic zones in emerging economies, with specific insights pertinent to North Macedonia.

Evaluation of International Financial Integration on Growth in CEE Countries

The thesis examines the influence of international financial integration on growth in Central and Eastern European economies using a two-way fixed effects model with macroeconomic data for 16 Central and Eastern European countries from 2007 to 2021. The thesis draws several conclusions. First, the ratio of net FDI inflows and outflows to GDP does not present a significant effect on growth. Although the stock data on FDI is similarly not significant for the overall sample regression, the regression of the sample divided into developed and developing economies shows a positive effect of FDI liabilities on economic growth for developed economies and a negative effect of FDI liabilities on economic growth for developing economies. Second, for both the overall sample, developed economies, and developing economies, none of the portfolio investment asset variables are statistically significant, except for portfolio investment assets in developing economies. Third, both portfolio debt and other investment debt negatively affect economic growth in developing economies and the overall sample, while the result is not significant for developed economies.

Essays on the impact of technological change on economic structure

Interní Essays on the Impact of Technological Change on Economic Structure Abstract This dissertation investigates the interplay between technological change and economic structure. Welcomed technological change sometimes brings changes to the structure of the economy which introduces not so welcomed economic frictions. On the other hand, economic structure can foster or hinder technological change. This thesis focuses mainly on structural changes such as R&D financing and global value chain (GVC) integration potentially translating into economic productivity. In Chapter 2, I show that business R&D spending exerts both direct and indirect positive effects on value added. Nevertheless, the heterogeneity of the returns to R&D has seldom been examined. Using detailed sectoral data from Czechia over the period 1995-2015, this study finds that privately funded business R&D has both direct and spillover effects, but that the publicly funded part of business R&D only leads to spillovers. The results further suggest that both upstream and downstream spillovers matter, regardless of the source of funding, and that during the period studied, R&D returns were heavily affected by the economic crisis. This thesis is focused on the evaluation of the impact of foreign direct investment on the financial situation of the internationally operating company ČESKÁ LÉKÁRNA HOLDING, a.s. The theoretical part includes a comprehensive analysis of foreign direct investment from various aspects, financial analysis, selected indicators, analysis of external and internal environment and methodological approaches including statistical tests for subsequent research. The analytical part includes selected indicators for the period 2000 to 2021 presented in graphical form as well as research aimed at demonstrating the impact of foreign direct investment. The design section proposes solutions that are expected to induce positive or economically beneficial changes with the anticipated result of improving the company's financial situation.

This master thesis focuses on uncovering the determinants of growth in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into a theoretical basis, which is devoted to economic growth and the determinants that can affect it, and an analytical part, where the dependence of selected determinants on economic growth is examined. The results of the individual analyses are compared with each other. At the end of this thesis, the results are discussed and recommendations are formulated for the top institutions of the selected countries.

Chovanec, M. Determinants of foreign direct investments to the V4 countries. Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2020. The aim of this thesis is to identify the determinants of foreign direct investment to the V4 countries. The aim of the thesis is fulfilled through regression analysis of time data of selected variables in the period 1997 to 2019. The work also describes and evaluates the development of foreign direct investment inflows to individual countries. The identified indicators point to the diversity of results within the V4 countries. In the Slovak Republic, the most significant factors influencing the inflow of foreign direct investment are the factors inflation and infrastructure. For Czech Republic the main factor is infrastructure and corporate tax factor for Poland. For Hungary, no factor was found to be significant at the 1 % level of significance, but some factors are identified that affect the inflow of foreign direct investment to Hungary at 5 and 10 % of the level of significance, namely GDP per hour factor, inflation and action factor elections in a given year.
